On May 20, Song Laixin, Deputy Party Secretary of Beijing University of Chemical Technology (BUCT), visited Dawn Group to promote in-depth industry-university-research integration, expand cooperation scope, accelerate the transformation and application of scientific and technological achievements, and empower high-quality development. Leaders from BUCT's Domestic Cooperation and Exchange Office, Student Affairs Office, Enrollment Office, and School of Materials Science and Engineering participated in the event. Accompanying the visit were Ge Qian, Member of the Standing Committee of Longkou Municipal Party Committee and Director of the Office; Cai Di, Deputy Mayor of the Municipal Government; Yu Xiaoning, Chairman and President of Dawn Group; Vice President Liu Lili; Tian Hongchi, General Manager of Dawn Polymer; and heads of relevant functional departments.

In the lobby on the first floor of Dawn Group's headquarters, leaders from BUCT's Student Affairs Office and Enrollment Office listened to briefings on the company's development, technological innovation, industry status, and social responsibilities. In Longkou New Materials Science and Technology Industrial Park, the guests inspected Dawn's industrial chain, product chain, enterprise chain construction, and park development. Accompanied by Chairman Yu Xiaoning, Secretary Song Laixin visited the Dawn New Material Exhibition Center to learn in detail about the industrial layout, chain operation, and achievements of industry-university-research cooperation.

It is reported that Dawn Group and BUCT have carried out university-enterprise cooperation for more than 20 years, leveraging their respective advantages to open up an integrated collaborative innovation channel for "industry-university-research-application," setting a model for university-enterprise cooperation. Dawn Group has established the Dawn Polymer Special Scholarship at BUCT. In 2017, Dawn donated 10 million yuan to BUCT, leading to the establishment of the "Dawn Building" at BUCT; in 2024, it donated another 10 million yuan to promote the construction of "Innovative BUCT."

For years, a number of outstanding BUCT graduates have taken root in Dawn and become leading figures in the industry and mainstays of enterprise development. Vice President Liu Lili stated that the number of postgraduate students recruited by Dawn from BUCT this year has reached a record high. "We will continue to set up the Dawn special scholarship at BUCT, collaborate with the university on scholarship work, and help students complete their studies with excellent results." During Secretary Song Laixin's visit, the university and enterprise reached a consensus on expanding the scope of graduate recruitment, "making Dawn a stage for students to display their talents and realize their values."

The university-enterprise "makes mutual efforts," transforming scientific and technological achievements into new productive forces. Dawn Group and BUCT have co-built a joint laboratory, broken international monopolies, built the first domestic thermoplastic elastomer (TPV) production line with independent intellectual property rights, achieved industrialization of hydrogenated nitrile butadiene rubber (HNBR), and formed new productive forces. They have undertaken more than 20 national and provincial-level scientific and technological projects and developed a number of forward-looking products, such as the third-generation tire gas barrier layer (DVA), helping the enterprise build a world-class, green, low-carbon, high-end new material manufacturing base.

Currently, Dawn Group has constructed a "12315" R&D layout and four major R&D platforms. The two sides will actively carry out in-depth research and development of anti-fatigue, high-load, high-skid resistance series polyurethane elastomer technologies; a new generation of thermoplastic elastomer technologies based on reversible crosslinking; and SiR/TPU thermoplastic elastomer foaming materials for stain-resistant sneaker midsoles. They will collaboratively build the Yantai Research Institute of Beijing University of Chemical Technology and jointly participate in national key R&D program projects, enabling "innovation flowers" to bear "industrial fruits," assisting Yantai's development and supporting national strategies in meeting customer needs, promoting product technology progress and industrial transformation and upgrading, and enhancing the independent innovation capability of China's rubber industry.
