From April 8th to 10th, the 2026 Annual Meeting of the Flame Retardant Materials and Application Committee of the China Plastics Processing Industry Association and the 7th Symposium on Technological Innovation and Market Application of Flame Retardant Plastics were held in Longkou, Shandong Province. Leaders and guests from government departments, industrial organizations, universities, research institutions, and upstream and downstream enterprises in the industrial chain gathered at this annual grand event in the field of flame retardant materials to discuss the innovative development of flame retardant materials.

The Flame Retardant Materials and Application Committee is dedicated to the healthy and sustainable development of the flame retardant materials industry in China. It focuses on industry hotspots, researches industry development trends, promotes industry restructuring, facilitates technological advancement, and provides a platform for exchange and cooperation among upstream, midstream, and downstream enterprises and research institutions within the industry. This conference was hosted by the China Plastics Processing Industry Association and co-organized by the Flame Retardant Materials and Applications Committee and Dawn Group. Wang Zhanjie, Chairman of the China Plastics Processing Industry Association, attended the event and delivered a speech. Yu Xiaoning, Director of the Flame Retardant Materials and Application Committee and Chairman and President of Dawn Group, presented the annual work report.

It is reported that this is the first time the Special Committee has returned to Longkou in seven years since its establishment in 2019. It is both a high-level academic exchange event and a platform for in-depth industry collaboration, connecting industry, academia, research, and application. Participants broadened their horizons through site visits, council meetings, special lectures, and business exchanges, fostering friendships through intellectual exchange, and stimulating innovation and seizing business opportunities through collaborative cooperation.

At the seminar, renowned scholars from top domestic universities such as Tsinghua University, University of Science and Technology of China, Northeast Forestry University, and Beijing Institute of Technology, as well as representatives from leading companies in the industry, focused on the core issues of flame-retardant plastic technology innovation and market application, and shared cutting-edge research results, practical experience and development insights on new material research and development, technological breakthroughs, market expansion and industrial transformation.

Chairman Yu Xiaoning introduced the development of Dawn Group and the Longkou New Materials Science and Technology Industrial Park. He stated that the Special Committee would always closely align with the association's central work, actively fulfill its responsibilities, continuously deepen industry exchanges, and meticulously organize various activities. Currently, it is the start of the 15th Five-Year Plan, a crucial stage for accelerating the industry's leap towards new quality productivity. The Special Committee will continue to innovate its working ideas and methods, focus its efforts precisely on the development directions of functionalization, high-end products, integration, greening, intelligence, and internationalization, and lead Chinese flame-retardant materials industry to achieve high-quality development with both quality and efficiency improvements.

In his address, Chairman Wang Zhanjie pointed out that 2026 is a crucial year for scientifically planning the "15th Five-Year Plan" development blueprint. Faced with new circumstances and tasks, the flame retardant materials industry must accurately grasp the overall trend, keep pace with industrial transformation, and focus on new demands arising from fields such as new energy infrastructure and high-end equipment manufacturing. It must adhere to green and circular development to guide technological upgrades; strengthen innovation-driven development to cultivate new momentum for industrial development; deepen collaborative progress to build a strong synergy within the industry; and uphold craftsmanship and quality to solidify the foundation for the industry's steady and long-term development. He emphasized that as long as the entire industry remains confident, works hand in hand, and unswervingly follows the path of innovation-driven, collaborative, and green development, it will surely be able to propel the flame retardant materials industry in China to new heights and achieve new leaps, providing strong support for accelerating the construction of a modern industrial system.
