On May 29th, the 2023 "National Science and Technology Workers Day" symposium and the "Most Beautiful Science and Technology Workers in Yantai " award ceremony were held in Yantai City. Gao Jianguang, member of the Yantai Municipal Committee and Minister of Organization and United Front Work Department, attended the meeting and delivered a speech. During the event, Chen Qingkui, the dean of Dawn Group Research Institute and a professor-level senior engineer, was awarded the honorary title of "The Most Beautiful Sci-tech Worker in Yantai ". This was the second time that Dawn researchers won this honor after Tian Hongchi, general manager of Dawn Polymer in 2022.

The recognition aimed to further guide science and technology workers to become leaders in high-level scientific and technological self-reliance, contributing more wisdom and strength to "taking the lead and opening up new chapters." The title of "Most Beautiful Science and Technology Worker in Yantai" is awarded to outstanding science and technology workers and exemplary scientific and technological innovation teams who have made remarkable achievements in scientific research, technological breakthroughs, technology promotion, transformation of scientific and technological achievements, scientific popularization, rural revitalization, and the protection of people's lives and health.

As a leading figure in scientific and technological innovation, Professor Chen Qingkui's research areas include polyethylene, polypropylene, polystyrene, ethylene-vinyl acetate copolymer, ethylene-vinyl alcohol copolymer, and more. He has completed dozens of research projects, breaking the foreign technological monopoly and filling domestic gaps in several key technologies. He repeatedly won the Sinopec Science and Technology Progress Award. During the COVID-19, Professor Chen Qingkui led his research team in undertaking the National Key R&D Program task titled "Key Technologies and Industrialization of Reusable Protective Masks." He was responsible for confirming the project formulation and overcoming key technical challenges.

In the past two years, Professor Chen Qingkui's research team has achieved significant accomplishments. They won the second prize in the Yantai Elite Entrepreneurship Competition both domestically and internationally. They have made new breakthroughs in the preparation technology of high-strength carbon fiber reinforced polysulfide composite materials and the preparation technology of low-emission thermoplastic elastomer materials, and also mastered key core technologies. Furthermore, they have achieved historic results in international paper publications and invention patent applications.

May 30th was the seventh National Science and Technology Workers' Day. This year's theme was "Igniting the Torch of Spirit." The Shandong Provincial Committee of the Communist Party of China and the People’s Government of Shandong Province sent a letter to the scientific and technological workers in Shandong, emphasizing the need to promote the spirit of scientists, cultivate patriotism, be pioneers in their fields, uphold a strong academic atmosphere, and transform scientific and professional skills into strategies and actions that benefit the province and its people. They encouraged the scientific and technological workers to make remarkable contributions to the modernization and development of the province in this new journey.

Dean Chen Qingkui stated, "Being recognized as the 'Most Beautiful Science and Technology Worker' is not only a honor to the individual but also to the Dawn research team." According to statistics, over 10 individuals and one team from Dawn Group have received honors such as the National Petroleum and Chemical Outstanding Science and Technology Worker, the Most Beautiful Science and Technology Worker in Yantai City, and the Outstanding Science and Technology Innovation Team in Yantai City. These achievements are core elements of the "Three Teams" and "Four Advantages" of Dawn Group. " In the future, we should actively respond to the calls of party committees and governments at all levels, embrace the greater cause of the nation, conscientiously fulfill the mission of serving the country through science and technology, take proactive actions, adhere to independent innovation, focus on key areas, accelerate the transformation of achievements, and strive to accelerate and make progress on the track of high-level scientific and technological self-reliance."
