On May 14th, Tan Tianwei, the Headmaster of Beijing University of Chemical Technology and academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, visited Dawn, which would help to promote the development of school-enterprise cooperation in an all-round, multi-field and in-depth manner. In the central control room of Dawn Degradable Materials Company, Headmaster Tan Tianwei watched the promotional video of Dawn New Material Technology Industrial Park in Longkou City, listened to the reports on the company's overview, park construction, technological innovation, chain operation, green development, etc., and learned about the product properties and market applications of degradable materials. He expressed his appreciation for Dawn's goal of "anchoring a park with a population of 100 billion and building a world-class green, low-carbon and high-end new material manufacturing base".

Walking into the product exhibition hall on the first floor of Dawn Polymer, Headmaster Tan Tianwei learned about the company's development history, industrial layout, core technology, product applications, etc. in detail. In 2002, Dawn and Beijing University of Chemical Technology started the research and development of high-performance thermoplastic elastomer (TPV) project. The scientific research team broke the foreign technology monopoly, and its TPV preparation technology won the second prize of the National Science and Technology Invention Award. Dawn established the first domestic TPV production line with independent intellectual property rights, making China the fifth country in the world that can put this technology into production. Dawn is known as a model of school-enterprise cooperation, and President Tan Tianwei fully affirmed and spoke highly of it.

Dawn's hydrogenated nitrile rubber project is another industrialization project of cooperation between both sides. After 10 years of joint research, breakthroughs have been made in key technologies of low-cost catalysts and large-scale hydrogenation equipment and process technologies. A thousand-ton hydrogenated nitrile rubber production line has been built. It announced that after Japan and Germany, China has the hydrogenated nitrile rubber preparation technology with completely independent intellectual property rights. Professor Yue Dongmei from Beijing University of Chemical Technology is the chief engineer of Dawn Special Elastomer Co., Ltd, and she has been a senior expert in this field.

Headmaster Tan Tianwei was very interested in learning about the R&D, production and application of hydrogenated nitrile rubber, and praised Dawn from being "stuck" to owning his own brand. Now, Dawn not only realizes the localization of hydrogenated nitrile rubber, but also becomes a substitute for internationally renowned brands. Its hydrogenated nitrile rubber is exported to Japan, Germany, the United States, South Korea, India, Italy and other countries. Hydrogenated nitrile butadiene rubber has been the core product for Dawn to enter the global competition stage, increasing its international popularity and influence.

When knowing the contribution of Dawn’s polypropylene melt-blown special materials to the fight against the COVID-19, Tan Tianwei said, "You have done a good job." After the outbreak, Dawn and Beijing University of Chemical Technology jointly developed reusable civil masks, which effectively boosted the prevention and control of the epidemic and the reserve of strategic materials. At the same time, Dawn also donated 200,000 reusable civil sanitary masks and more than 40,000 catties of apples to Beijing University of Chemical Technology to protect the health of teachers and students with practical actions.

According to reports, Dawn has joined hands with Beijing University of Chemical Technology for more than 20 years and has achieved fruitful results in industry-university-research cooperation. In 2003, they established the "Dawn-BUCT Thermoplastic Elastomer Material Joint R&D Center". Since 2012, Dawn has set up the "Dawn Polymer Special Scholarship" at BUCT. On the occasion of the 60th anniversary of Beijing University of Chemical Technology, Dawn donated CNY 10 million to Beijing University of Chemical Technology to support the development of the school's education. In November 2018, the "Dawn Building" was unveiled at BUCT, which was the first batch of buildings named after the school was founded 60 years ago. In July 2022, Beijing University of Chemical Technology and Dawn Group carried out industry-university-research exchange activities to provide strong impetus for high-quality development.
