HDPE pipe features high strength and stiffness, MDPE pipe also features good flexibility and creep resistance. The latter two types of pipe, especially HDPE pipe, have been widely used in urban gas and water supply pipelines due to its good shock resistance, good toughness, good temperature resistance, high impact strength, light weight and service life up to 50 years.

There are many classification methods for HDPE pipes. Based on the application area it can be categorized as water supply pipe, gas pipe, aluminum-plastic composite pipe, buried drainage pipe, agricultural irrigation pipe and electrician casing. Based on the pressure it can be categorized as pressure and non-pressure pipes, water pipe, gas pipe, sandwich tube (coated pipe) which belongs to the category of pressure pipe.

The melt index of HDPE pipes is in the range of 0.1 to 0.15, while PE63 PE80 PE100 means that they can respectively maintain the minimum strength of 6.3MPa 8.0MPa and10.0MPa for 50 years at the temperature of 20℃
